street of shame

What's the story?
Oasiswatch , Issue 1653

oasis.jpg BOTH the Sun and Daily Star declared last week "Oasis week", while other tabloids and broadsheets piled in equally hard to show they were mad for it ahead of the band's reunion tour. But with Noel and Liam Gallagher giving no interviews and actual news hard to come by, the coverage was as bereft of anything worth hearing as the band's last five studio albums...

"Brits prefer Liam Gallagher over his brother Noel, a poll finds. Bookies Ladbrokes surveyed the nation to find out which Oasis brother people favoured ahead of the Britpop band's tour. It was a close call, with Liam nabbing 51 percent of the vote to Noel's 49 percent." – Daily Star, 26 June

"The Oasis reconciliation has never been equalled – and will never be eclipsed. It's not hyperbole or exaggeration – this is the reunion to top all reunions... the musical, media and technological landscapes have fractured so significantly over the past decades that I cannot envisage any group hereafter emerging with such impact and cultural significance, capturing the zeitgeist and empowering a nation." – Former editor turned music PR Dominic Mohan writes for the Sun, 29 June

"What Prince Harry and Prince William could learn from Liam and Noel Gallagher as the Oasis frontmen gear up for their reunion tour... despite their status as musical legends, it is understood that the Gallagher brothers have neither performed for nor met any of the royals." – Daily Mail, 3 July

"There are thought to be at least 40 Oasis tribute bands in the UK alone, with more belting out the foursome's hits in Ireland and beyond. Continuing Oasis Week at the Daily Star, here Layla Nicholson speaks to three of the biggest..." – Daily Star, 2 July

"Fans who found love, careers and more... we speak to five superfans who met their partners or found their calling through the band."– Sun, 2 July

"Exclusive: I was paid to tend garden at Liam Gallagher's £3m French chateau... but he sacked me: Meet the one man hoping tonight's mega Oasis reunion FLOPS." – Daily Mail, 3 July

"Why Oasis is like Reform" – Spectator, 4 July

"The brothers Gallagher are like the twin stars of Sirius, pulsing in the firmament, forever revolving around each other in captured orbit but never able to embrace." – Poet laureate Simon Armitage writes in the Grauniad, 4 July

"Starting from 1pm today, BBC iPlayer will be holding a live stream event for those who can't make it. Jason Mohammad and Tina Daheley will be bringing you live interviews straight from Cardiff, as well as on-the-ground updates from fans and those attending the show. You'll also be able to get an inside look at the stage set-up inside Principality Stadium before the show kicks off. Sadly, the live stream will end before the gig starts." – Radio Times, 4 July
