Moron - Piers dubbed Russell Brand a “berk” for tweeting a reporter’s phone number
“RUSSELL BRAND tweeting journalists’ personal phone numbers?” tweeted Piers Moron after the rollicking revolutionary revealed a Daily Mail hack’s business card to his 8.74m followers. “What a berk.”

Or, to be more accurate, what a moron. Back in 2001, when Morgan was editing the Daily Mirror, the paper printed Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles’s direct work line, personal email and home phone number, which, as 3am “girl” Jessica Callan recalled in her 2007 memoir, she got hold of “with the help of an agency I used to track down information on people”. All of them were printed in the paper to encourage readers to “call Chris with comments about his tedious show, dial his personal line… or email the grotesque bore”.

We had let things get out of hand
The paper even threatened to print the home phone number of Moyles’s parents, although Callan claimed that “we had no intention of actually going that far. I was worried we had let things get out of hand… It all seemed a bit self-indulgent. Did our readers actually care? Piers had always encouraged us to wage campaigns against celebrities.”

The Independent group’s festive charity auction included a week’s unpaid work experience in a bookshop, which went for £2,000. Who says only the rich can afford jobs?
